1. E-commerce
The first method of earning an income online is e-commerce. The word e-commerce is a very big word.
Really? But in this article, what I mean is selling physical products online on Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, and the like.
If you’re selling a product online, there’s been a considerable e-commerce boom in the last couple of years. The pandemic accelerated the boom.
People are buying products online like crazy. The cool thing about this is that it doesn’t matter where you are. Whether you’re in the United States, Australia, Asia, or anywhere else in the world, you can sell products online and create a business that operates via the internet.
When it comes to e-commerce, you can:
- decide to sell other people’s products,
- do dropshipping, or
- create your own product and sell it online.
E-commerce is actually one of the things that I specialize in and teach a lot about. I also teach how to use websites and platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to raise funding for a business and encourage people to pre-order the products you’re going to be releasing. In that way, you get the funding to create that product.
Despite e-commerce being massive, it’s one of the easiest ways to get started. I think everyone can wrap their mind around the concept of selling products online. This is going to take off this year because the cost of entry has just been going down and down.
In addition, with online advertising and marketing and social media, you can reach thousands of people around the globe who are interested in your products for pennies on the dollar, so this is not going away. Now is a great time to get into the e-commerce game, my friend!
2. Coaching and Consulting
Coaching and consulting have grown phenomenally well within the last few years. There’s a reason why more and more people are getting into this industry: to ethically make money online.
Now, the great thing about becoming an online coach is that there are so many categories of coaching with which you can get started:
- health coaching,
- wealth/financial coaching,
- fitness coaching,
- personal development coaching, or
- spiritual coaching.
Many industries within the coaching business industry don’t require a college degree and credentials.
They mainly require a willingness to learn what coaching is all about. So, if you want to help someone close the gap between where they are and where they want to be, coaching is an incredibly lucrative and rewarding career path for you.
You can do it from anywhere, as long as you have access to a phone, the internet, or a laptop.
You can efficiently conduct one-on-one individual coaching calls and group coaching sessions, run an entire coaching business that’s running no matter where you are, and live that remote-work lifestyle.
Yours truly is an example. I specialize in business coaching. I do one-on-one individual coaching. And this year, I wrote a book about becoming a business coach.

3. Becoming an Influencer or a Content Creator
I’m sure you’ve also seen this if you’ve been scrolling on TikTok and scrolling down that Instagram feed. If you’re even watching YouTube, many influencers nowadays exist in different niches and industries.
Whether you’re trying to become a creative influencer doing gaming content or a streamer, or you’re trying to do more educational content and you want to put out valuable tutorials and helpful videos or even a faceless YouTube channel, there are so many successful influencers nowadays.
Again, even if your niche is unique, millions of fans can listen to you and follow your every word.
I’m sure we’ll look back on this time in history and see that almost anyone can now become an online celebrity or an influencer. Teenagers, people in their 20s and 30s, and even older people are becoming celebrities literally overnight.
Indeed, the power of social media and the internet makes it possible for videos to go viral very quickly. If you want to become an influencer and earn a couple extra thousand per month, it is 100% possible nowadays as a career path.
Examples of How to Monetize
The world opens up as well when it comes to how you monetize. You can do things like:
- sponsorships,
- advertisements,
- brand deals,
- affiliate marketing, and
- selling your own products and digital courses.
In addition, there are so many different ways to monetize your honors. One is through Patreon, a subscription-based crowdfunding platform where you have your membership website.
4. Podcasting
There is a rise in the dominance of podcasting. Today is the Golden Age of it.
People are starting podcasts on many different niche topics. Whether it’s a live, in-person podcast or just doing it virtually and interviewing people via Zoom or Skype or whatever tool you choose, starting a podcast is so easy nowadays.
The great thing about this is that you have much higher CPMs than other forms of marketing and advertising. You can make money faster and much easier when people listen to your podcast.
I do a podcast called Crowdfunding Demystified. When thousands of people listen to our podcasts, they listen to 40-minute-long episodes, so they are tuned in. Hence, we have so much attention. To date, I produced over 400 podcast episodes.

I think you’re an excellent fit for podcasting if you:
- are interested in interviewing guests,
- want your voice to be heard,
- want to explore different perspectives,
- are a curious person, or
- have a little bit more entertaining personality.

The great thing is that there is a huge boom in online learning and education. Again, I think the pandemic really accelerated that.
You can start an online education business where you sell courses, hold group workshops, conduct online seminars, and publish books on Amazon or Audible.
Reasons to Start an Online Education Business
This is an incredible time in the history of the planet to start an online education business because:
- you don’t need to buy a printing press,
- you don’t need to go out there and figure out how to code an e-book,
- you don’t have to even learn necessarily that much about audio editing; you can just hire someone else to do it for you, and
- you can produce audio content books, e-books, and courses like there’s no tomorrow.
What You Need to Start an Online Education Business
You can start an online education business as long as:
- you have something that you want to share with someone,
- you can teach someone something, or
- you can add value to something and share it with someone else.
The cool thing about this is that there are very high profit margins when offering online courses and education.
6. Freelancing
Earning extra income online or freelancing is probably the fastest way to ethically make money online in 2024. The downside is that you’ll need to work harder to actually earn that income.
Freelancing means offering your services, such as:
- social media services
- virtual assistance
- digital marketing
- writing
- editing
- graphic design
It is easy to make money from freelancing now because the labor pool is global. People around the world, like myself, hire freelancers to help them with their businesses. As long as you add value, you can make money as a freelancer. .
Two Main Things to Get Started in the Freelancing Business
To get started in this business, there are two main things needed:
- You have to decide what you’re good at and what skill you’re going to sell.
- You need to get clients.

7. Blogging
This is how I started in the online business world: blogging. You might be thinking, Oh, isn’t that like so 2007 or so the early 2000s?
I would argue that it has a much more profound impact now. More companies are starting blogs because they realize the power of:

- blogging,
- putting your voice out there,
- sharing helpful information, education, and resources with an audience and people who want to learn.
Examples of Blogs You Can Do
- entertainment-style blog
- travel blog
- health blog
- tutorial blog
- financial blog
This is a great time to make money with blogging. I’ve got to tell you, man, blogging feels like magic money.
I don’t know how else to say it, but it feels literally like magic money because people you’ve never met before are coming in and visiting your website, reading your content, going and clicking links, and you’re making money from advertisements. Maybe you’re even selling digital products online, e-books, courses, and other similar things.
The first time I actually earned income from the Google AdSense program was over 10 years ago. When I saw my first check from that program, I was so giddy, like it felt like magic.

You can do this even if you’re not necessarily a good writer. There are so many easy hacks to start a blog if you’re not interested in the writing aspect.
In the “make money online” kind of realm, the cool thing is when you are on a laptop by the beach, you have the wind in your hair, you have your glass of iced drink, and it’s just like it feels really cool to know that you have a blog that’s continually getting visitors, people checking you out, while you’re living the laptop lifestyle, being a digital nomad. Man! It is one of the coolest feelings in the world …
